Mwayi Wosintha, meaning "Chance for Change" in Chichewa, was founded in 2011 as Chance for Change and established as an independent Malawian organisation in 2019.
Our work is grounded in the fundamental principle that no child should be forced to steal or sell their bodies to survive.
We address the intersection of extreme poverty, child exploitation, and inadequate justice system capacity in one of the world's least developed countries.
Mwayi Wosintha is a registered Malawian NGO dedicated to providing access to justice and protection for vulnerable children and young people. Since 2011, we have pioneered innovative approaches to child justice and protection in Malawi, reaching over 11,500 vulnerable children and young people. We operate Malawi’s first private reformatory centre, removing children from adult prisons and providing them with safe, rehabilitative environments.

In Malawi, over 70% of people live below the international poverty line. This pervasive poverty creates a context in which children are particularly vulnerable to exploitation, abuse, and conflict with the law. We exist to fill the critical gaps in Malawi’s child protection and justice systems.
